Since March, the Journalists’ Charity has helped hundreds of journalists whose lives have been affected by the impact of coronavirus.
At the outset of the crisis, we promised to give all applicants a rapid response to their enquiries, helping to minimise stress by allocating financial support as quickly as possible.

Ellen Bramley, who previously worked at the Society of Editors, takes up the post tasked with spreading the word about the charity’s vital role.

The Journalists’ Charity is renewing its drive to recognise and celebrate the role of journalism as Covid-19 continues to seriously impact life across the UK.
Since the beginning of lockdown, journalists have played a vital role in delivering information to audiences, as well as providing insight and scrutiny at a time of unprecedented national importance.

AGM 202029/07/2020
The Journalists’ Charity’s annual general meeting will be held on Wednesday 19th August at 12:30pm by video conference.
The meeting will include reports on 2019 from the charity’s chair, and treasurer, as well as the re-election of some council members. It will also include a proposal to amend several bye laws, adapted mainly as a response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Announcing the Journalists’ Charity/Dickens Fellowship competition WINNER15/07/2020
Thanks and congratulations to everyone who entered the Journalists’ Charity/Dickens Fellowship competition to find a new Dickens character for the 21st century. There were almost 300 entries in the competition to mark the 150th anniversary of the great writer’s death.
