With rising student debt and hikes in the cost-of-living threatening to price journalists out of the industry, the Queen Camilla Future of Journalism Awards will help winners to unlock their career goals whilst supporting organisations to recruit and retain talent from all walks of life.
Each year, 25 winners will receive up to £2500 to boost their career development with a cash prize to go towards training, equipment, accommodation, or travel. Winners will also receive the offer of mentoring or coaching and an invitation to join Her Majesty the Queen and industry leaders at a special ceremony to recognise their potential.

With rising student debt and hikes in the cost-of-living threatening to price journalists out of the industry, the Awards will help journalists to unlock their career goals, promoting social mobility and diversity.
You should be aged between 18 and 30, living in the UK, and either have a job in journalism, or if you’re freelance, earn your full-time income from working in the sector.
The Awards are designed to support individuals whose financial circumstances mean they can’t access funding from elsewhere, so you’ll be asked to demonstrate why you need the funds.
You can use it towards training to help with professional development and acquiring new skills. You can use it for equipment to help you with work projects. You can use it to support relocation and accommodation which is essential to your job or new role. You can also use it for travel where it is essential for work.
No, it’s optional. You’ll be offered support if you need it, subject to the charity being able to offer an appropriate service from its existing schemes.
You and a guest will be invited to a special ceremony attended by Her Majesty Queen Camilla on February 17 2027. If you’re successful, you’ll receive an invite with more details nearer the time.
The charity currently offers 25 awards every year.
Applications will be carefully and confidentially considered by an experienced panel who will decide the winners based on the criteria highlighted in the application process. The decision of the charity is final.
You will be informed if your application is unsuccessful. In the event that you could qualify for other support from the charity, an officer will get in touch with you.
