The charity’s Royal connections go back to 1890 when Queen Victoria granted a Royal Charter.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is now the sixth British head of state to serve as our Patron.

The role of Her Majesty the Queen as the charity’s Patron has been crucial to the ongoing effort to help journalists and support journalism over many decades. The charity has also been supported by several other members of the Royal family who have given their time to assist our aims.
