Paul Conroy, acclaimed British photojournalist, documentary maker, and author known for his courageous war reporting, particularly in Syria and Ukraine has died from a heart attack.

He was awarded the prestigious Journalists’ Charity Special Award in 2019 for his dedication to reporting, including his work in Homs and for  his commitment to telling vital stories, specifically for his efforts to expose the situation in Syria following the 2012 death of his colleague, Marie Colvin.

This Spring, the Journalists’ Charity are booking visits with news teams across the UK.  Your organisation will benefit by learning more about the support the Journalists’ Charity has provided for more than 160 years.  We would love to pop by to spread the word and answer any questions re: financial assistance, our first jobs fund, mentoring and 1-1 career coaching. 

The former Guardian, Observer, Mirror and Telegraph journalist Chris Boffey has been described as a “brilliant raconteur” and “wonderful boss” after his death at the age of 74.

Boffey had a distinguished career as a reporter and served as head of news for four national newspapers. He also crossed the Westminster divide, spending time as a special adviser to the Blair-era education secretary Estelle Morris.
