The JC’s Chief Executive James Brindle joined members of the Royal family and other leaders from the charitable sector at Buckingham Palace on April 21 to celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The late Queen, who was Patron of the Journalists’ Charity throughout her 70-year reign was actively involved in supporting the organisation right up until her death in 2022. This included promoting the charity’s campaigns to celebrate the work of journalists during the pandemic.
Speaking after the event, James said, “in 2020, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II gave words of support and encouragement for the charity’s response to Covid-19 and after that ensured that our campaign to champion journalists was amplified on Royal channels. It’s quite remarkable to think that someone with so many responsibilities could find the time to make us feel special.”
