The Scottish media turned out in force on Friday October 20 to celebrate journalism in Scotland and to raise funds for the Journalists’ Charity.
Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart performed a live version of their hit podcast ‘The Rest is Politics’ to a crowd of more than 350 journalists, politicians, and other leading figures from across Scotland.
The event, which raised more than £25,000 for the charity, was the first of its kind to be held since the pandemic, bringing together journalists from across the sector as well as members of the broader Scottish media to celebrate the industry.
The fundraising lunch returned to the Radisson Blu in Glasgow after a 4-year hiatus and was generously supported by donations from RBS and Camelot.
The charity’s CEO James Brindle said:
An event of this size and scale is a fantastic reflection of the industry in Scotland with such a large number of journalists turning out to show their support.
Our new Scottish Chair Gill Smith has done a terrific job of leading this fundraiser at a time when journalism has never been more important and neither has our support offer.”
