The Journalists’ Charity as a registered charity is regulated by the Charity Commission and has to abide by the rules laid down by them. In the case of monetary grants we are governed by the Charity Commission document ‘Charities for the Relief of the Poor’ (CC4).

One of the key rules is that charitable funds cannot be used to replace State benefits. We will therefore encourage all applicants to apply for any benefits they may be entitled to.

The data the Charity gathers and holds is managed in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. To process your application, it has been necessary to ask for some personal information. The information you provide will be held in a secure database and paper files.
