The Journalists’ Charity is delighted to announce that Gill Smith, Editor-in-Chief of the Scottish Sun, has become the chair of the charity’s Scottish Committee.
Following in the finest traditions of making the headlines, Gill’s first event as chair will be to host the charity flagship Press Lunch in Glasgow next month.
Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart, co-hosts of their hugely successful podcast, The Rest is Politics, have kindly agreed to be the special guests at the lunch. Details of the event are below.
Gill Smith said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed the new chair of this great charity in Scotland and I know all of us involved are determined to continue the efforts that go into helping people who need our support. I’m also thrilled that Alastair and Rory have agreed to appear at our lunch next month. Judging by the response so far, I’m sure it will be a tremendous success.”

As chair, Gill succeeds Andy Harries who did a massive amount of work on behalf of the charity over his eight-year tenure.
