The Journalists’ Charity’s Wales Media Awards 2023 have raised more than £9,000 to help journalists in need.
The event, held in Cardiff’s Parkgate Hotel on November 10, was attended by 200-plus guests from across the industry in Wales and the rest of the UK.
Christine Warwick, Chair of the Journalists’ Charity and a member of the Wales Committee, said:
“This is a fantastic financial outcome from what was a highly successful awards evening.
“Thanks to our sponsors, ticket and table sales, advertising and donations, the funding will offer help, advice and financial assistance to existing or former journalists struggling through hard times.
“We’re extremely grateful to all our supporters.”
As well as raising all-important funds for the charity, the awards were an opportunity to bring together journalists, supporters and stakeholders for a special evening of celebration honouring the very best in Welsh journalism.
